R V Wallis team conquer the Snowdon challenge
Date Posted: 16/07/2013

Neil Silverthorne, Will Wright, Stephen Paterson and Craig Withers completed the Snowdon Challenge on Saturday 6th July. The challenge was to cycle 40 miles in 3 stages around Mount Snowdon, climb Snowdon and canoe 1.5 kms around a lake. The first cycle leg was 20 miles with some steep hills - the worst of which was a 16% incline; then climb Snowdon which is over 3000 feet; a second cycle leg of 10 miles followed by the canoe stage and the final leg was 10 miles up steep off road tracks culminating in a fast downhill run to the finish! Neil said "It was a very gruelling day and took us 9 hours and 40 minutes".

The team undertook this challenge in aid of 'Regain'. A charity supporting sports persons who have been injured and are now para and tetraplegic. The event as a whole has raised over £120,000 with the R V Wallis team alone raising over £2,000.

As well as raising funds for this very worthy cause, the team also took the opportunity to publicise the Keep Trade Local campaign - check out the shirts in the picture!

Well done guys on a great achievement - even though, in the picture, Craig is actually on his mobile trying to call a taxi!
